Interview

Patricia Mante-ProustAn Interview with one of our 15 Property Search Experts specializing in the center of Paris: Patricia Mante-Proust

Where are you from?

I was born in Montmartre, right here in Paris.

How long have you been in Paris?

I went to boarding school in Metz for three years and between 1997 and 2001 I lived in New York City which I really enjoyed. Otherwise I am 100% Parisian and have spent my life in Paris, my favorite city in the world.

How did you become a property search expert?

I was taking a tax management class, looking at real estate investments and it occurred to me that I would like to work in that field. While I was searching for a job in an agency, a friend of mine told me about being a property search expert. I liked the idea of working with one customer at a time instead of just trying to sell multiple listings. I could be honest, objective, and build a relationship with the people I worked with.

What arrondissements do you specialize in?

The first 8 arrondissements and the 16th, 17th and 18tharrondissements.

What is your favorite arrondissement and why?

The 4th arrondissement is without a doubt my favorite because there is always so much to do there. Plus you are close to everything so you can walk anywhere and everything is open on Sundays so it’s the best place for a Sunday walk! I like to have brunch on Ile St Louis on one of the lovely terraces.

Is there a search or type of apartment that come up regularly?

Yes. An apartment with a quiet bedroom facing the courtyard, a living room facing the street, a balcony, and on a high floor.

What do you like about your job?

I love the diverse architecture and I enjoy visiting apartments. I think I have the eye when it comes to picking out good apartments. It’s rewarding to be good at your job. Even if the apartment needs a lot of work, I can still see if it’s going to be a good investment. I make sure that my clients get the best advice about their investment opportunities and when my clients are happy, I know I have done my job well.

How do you get around Paris (metro, scooter, etc.)?

I used to have a car but it’s broken so I am currently taking the metro and walking. I just bought a little Piaggio Zip scooter but I have not yet had the chance to test it out.

Why do you think people should invest in Paris?

It is a safe investment. Paris will always be Paris and the city can’t get any bigger. You are investing in the old, in stone, in part of history and that will not go away.

What makes Flat Hunter good?

I really enjoy the people here and a good working environment is essential for productivity. I work more efficiently and enjoy my work more when I am with interesting people. I also enjoy working closely with my clients, getting to know people from all around the world and helping them to find their dream apartment. It’s an exciting process for them and I am lucky to be part of it.

What tips do you want to share with future buyers?

Bring or buy sneakers! You will need comfortable shoes when you spend the day hurrying down cobblestone streets to visit apartments. Visiting apartments can be exhausting as well as rewarding so be prepared to make the most of the time we have together.

What do you like to do when you are not working?

I read interior decorating magazines, watch movies, drive my car (when it’s not broken!), travel as often as I can, and I am constantly reorganizing my apartment.
