Paris: a long term investment safe haven

With the ongoing crisis always present in one's mind, it is clear why many people are afraid to invest in the unpredictable stock market where drops are likely to continue into the New Year. Real estate has plummeted across the Western hemisphere, jobs are being lost daily in the tens of thousands and the currencies market is acting like it never has before. The feeling at the moment is that it’s good to have cash on hand and that really no investments are safe. However, in Paris France real estate remains one of the best long term investments that is not being hurt by the crisis.

Many of you will have read in the news that the ECB (European Central Bank) has dropped their base rate to 2.50%. What is confusing to many of our clients is how a drop in the ECB rate affects the EURIBOR and how the EURIBOR finally affects the rate paid for a consumer mortgage. The EURIBOR is the European interbank lending rate. This is the rate at which banks lend money to each other. Why do banks that have our money on deposit need to lend money to each other?

I was taking a tax management class, looking at real estate investments and it occurred to me that I would like to work in that field. While I was searching for a job in an agency, a friend of mine told me about being a property search expert. I liked the idea of working with one customer at a time instead of just trying to sell multiple listings. I could be honest, objective, and build a relationship with the people I worked with.
