The 15th is essentially a residential and business district with a lively community atmosphere. The area bordering the 7th arrondissement is quite upmarket whilst becoming increasingly middle-class towards the south.
The main arteries are bustling, as is the rue de Commerce and the areas of Cambronne and the Motte Picquet. The 15th borders the lively Montparnasse district with its hive of restaurants, bars and nightlife.
There are several small squares and parks in the area, the most modern being the beautiful Andre Citroen Park on the original site of the car manufacturer. To the north, facing the Seine is a zone of modern skyscrapers dominating Paris’ smaller version of the Statue of Liberty. Paris’ largest exhibition centre, Parc des Expositions, is in the south.
Apart from a range of expensive chic apartments bordering the 7th, the fifteenth remains an affordable district with both residential and commercial areas.
Modern and traditional architecture can be found along its main arteries and most side streets are calm and relaxed. Bordering the Seine are chic, high-rise apartments with great views of the city.
This is a favourite area for families, and its position offers good access to the western ring road, Versailles and the business district of La Defense.
